Ok kids. Christmas time is here, and that means it's time for Christmas Specials. We all know the classics, but what about the not-so-classics? Released in 1980, "A Snow White Christmas" falls into neither category, instead belonging to the "aired once, released to video and forgotten by everyone" category. The film was produced by Filmation, the fine folks who brought you "He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe" and that crappy "Ghostbusters" cartoon with the monkey. I've never actually seen "A Snow White Christmas" (Though the 20+ year wait is KILLING me) but those who are curious, amazingly, can find it on DVD according to Amazon. (This trailer is found at the beginning of my VHS dub of "Santa and the Three Bears", which you can find on youtube. It's very cheesy and saccharine filled, but it inexplicably holds some nostalgic value to me.)

Dec 2, 2008 - Wow, way to be totally unorignal Funmation. I hate to say it but I think there is a reason it was forgotten (it looks awful) lol

Dec 2, 2008 - I remember this trailer from the Prism Video edition. A trailer for "Santa and the Three Bears" is also on the "A Snow White Christmas" video.

Dec 2, 2008 - if it weren't for He-man, I'd say Filmation made a career out of plagiarism (their version of Ghostbusters, and the way some of the character designs in this movie look like they were stolen (I'll go out on a limb and say the magic mirror's design was stolen.))

Dec 2, 2008 - To be fair, their crappy "Ghostbusters" cartoon was based on an awful live action Saturday morning show from the 70's with the same title, but it was obviously an attempt to cash in on The "Ghostbusters" film franchise. Which is why Columbia had to call their "authorized" version "The Real Ghostbusters". I had a videotape of that show when I was a kid that my Mom bought me at K-Mart unwittingly, confused by the similar title. I forgave her...eventually.

Dec 10, 2008 - On a technicality, the original Ghostbusters movie wasn't even going to be called Ghostbusters. It was originally Ghost Smashers... but it was completely reworked from the original concept when Harold Ramis stepped in. And with the new plotline (the original had them time traveling too for some reason) came the new title. So basically there was this unfortunate coincidence.

Dec 22, 2008 - I HAVE seen this movie. I watched it all the time when I was little--yes, sad but true. You don't need to watch it because that trailer gave away the ending--and pretty much the entire plot.
TakumaMimura Says:
Dec 23, 2008 - It's spelled Filmation, do not begin to mistake it for the awesomeness that is "Funimation"

Dec 2, 2008 - It wasn't a monkey in the ghostbusters cartoon, it was an ape!
